Adaptation from Plutarch's Life of Pericles:
"Pericles, who was loving honor, at that time was leading first a competition of music for the pan-Athenian festival, both concerning how to arrange those competing to play the flute and to sing and to play the lyre. But the Athenians were watching both then and every time the musical competitions in the Odean. But fate was happening about the construction; the god does not stand aside, but was taking part and helping complete the work. For the busy and eager worker having slipped from great heights fell and lay in grave distress. The doctors were despairing and Pericles was disheartened. The god provided help, which relying on Pericles quickly and easily was assisting to the man. But for this reason also the bronze statue of the healing Athena he set up in the acropolis near the altar which also previously was there."
