Lesson 6 - Henle Latin I
Exercise 76 - Castra Romanorum
Videtis exercitum Romanorum in castris. You all see the army of the Romans in the camp.
Videtis milites et duces et imperatorem. You all see the soldiers and leaders and commander in chief.
Videtis gladios militum. You all see the swords of the soldiers.
Impedimenta non videtis, sed impedimenta sunt in castris. Baggage you do not see, but the baggage is in the camp.
In castris est copia omnium rerum. In the camp is a supply of all things.
Milites castra in colle posuerunt sed non in silvis. The soldiers placed the camp on the hill but not in the forest.
In castra agmen cum impedimentis venit. In the camp comes the army on the march with baggage.
Hostes autem impetum in castra fecerunt, sed copiae Romanorum hostes vicerunt. However the enemies made an attack against the camp, but the troops of the Romans conquered the enemies.
Nunc imperator milites et duces propter virtutem laudat, et duces propter victoriam gratias militibus agunt. Now the commander praises the soldiers and leaders on account of virtue, and the leader give thanks to the soldiers on account of victory.
Propter victoriam imperator in gratiam cum senatu venit. On account of victory the commander comes in thanks with the senate.
