The leaders often fortify the towns and bridges. 

2) Pars hostium per silvas venit; pars autem eorum per provinciam venit. 
Part of the enemies comes through the forests; but part of them comes through the province. 

3) Audisne voces servorum? 
Did you hear the voices of the servants? 

4) Romani propter communem salutem longas vias per provincias muniebant.
